Race Time Predictor
Use a recent race or time trial to estimate your equivalent performance across other common running distances. A useful starting point for setting realistic race goals and comparing performances.
Enter a Recent Performance
For the most useful prediction, choose a recent race or hard time trial that reflects your current fitness.
Based on your 5K time of 25:00
Estimated equivalent performances based on your current result.
How should I use these times?
Treat them as estimates rather than targets you should automatically expect to achieve. A prediction assumes you are appropriately trained for the new distance. Your endurance, training history, course, weather, pacing and race-day conditions will all influence the result.
How the Race Predictor Works
The calculator uses your performance over one distance to estimate an equivalent performance over another. It allows for the fact that pace normally slows as race distance increases.
Predictions tend to be more useful when the starting and target distances are reasonably close together. Predicting a 10K from a recent 5K, for example, generally requires fewer assumptions than predicting a marathon from the same result.
Choose the Right Result
Use a recent performance that reflects your current fitness. A properly raced event or hard time trial is generally more useful than an ordinary training run.
If your result was affected by significant hills, extreme weather, illness or an unusually difficult course, the predictions should be interpreted with additional caution.
Fitness Doesn't Automatically Equal Marathon Readiness
A strong 5K or 10K can indicate the aerobic potential for a particular marathon time, but it doesn't demonstrate that you currently have the endurance or preparation required to run it. Long-run development, training volume, fuelling, pacing and experience become increasingly important as the distance grows.
Turn Your Race Potential Into a Training Plan
A race predictor can give you an idea of what you might be capable of. The next step is building the training that gives you the best chance of achieving it.
Personalised coaching takes your current fitness, goals, training history and available time into account, helping you train with purpose rather than simply chasing a predicted finish time.
