About Run Fit Coach
Sports Therapist with a Focus on Running Biomechanics
Stuart Sahan is a degree qualified Sports Therapist BSc Hons and an England Athletics Coach in Running Fitness, providing clinically informed running biomechanics assessment for runners.
With experience across injury rehabilitation, endurance running, and coaching, Stuart helps runners better understand how they move, how this influences efficiency and injury risk, and how small, targeted adjustments can improve confidence and performance.
Rather than relying on generic training plans or overly controlled treadmill assessments, sessions are delivered in real world environments under realistic running load. This allows movement to be captured as it naturally occurs, particularly when slightly fatigued, providing a clearer picture of how the body moves through each stride.
A Clinical Perspective on Running Movement
Running is assessed across key phases of the gait cycle, including initial contact, mid stance, propulsion, and swing. Attention is given to how forces are absorbed, transferred, and generated throughout each phase.
Drawing on experience using 3D motion capture and multiple movement analysis platforms, assessments consider posture, pelvic control, stride behaviour, cadence patterns, limb symmetry, and loading strategies.
Findings are interpreted alongside training demands, injury history, and performance goals. The emphasis is not simply on describing movement, but on identifying potential contributors to inefficiency or recurring symptoms and translating this into clear, practical guidance.
Each runner receives a personalised biomechanics summary outlining key observations, technique cues, pacing considerations, and priority focus areas for improvement.
Experience in Sport and Running Communities
Alongside his clinical work, Stuart practices as a Sports Therapist at Sports Therapy One Injury Rehabilitation and Sports Massage, supporting clients with rehabilitation and performance focused care.
He is an active member of Massey Ferguson Runners Coventry and a group leader for Longford Striders as part of England Athletics RunTogether. His background also includes experience in impact sports through Mixed Martial Arts, alongside competitive fencing in épée, providing a broad understanding of movement demands across disciplines.
This combination of clinical practice and sporting experience allows for a balanced and practical approach to running biomechanics.
