Practical Running Support
One-to-One Running Coaching
Practical Coaching Built Around You
One-to-one running coaching in Coventry & Warwickshire for runners who want practical feedback, clearer direction and the opportunity to work directly on the areas of their running that matter most.
Individual Running Coaching
Work on What Matters to Your Running
Sometimes you don't need another training plan. You need the opportunity to work directly with a running coach and focus on what is happening with your own running.
A one-to-one session can focus on running technique, pacing, efficiency, training structure, race preparation or another area that is relevant to you.
We can observe your running, try different approaches and work practically during the session, giving you feedback that you can take directly into your own training.
Your Session
What Can We Work On?
There isn't a fixed template. Your session is shaped around your current running, what you want help with and the areas that are most relevant to your goals.
Running Technique
Practical coaching around aspects of your running technique and movement where appropriate.
Pacing & Efficiency
Work on pace, effort and practical ways of making your running more controlled and effective.
Training Structure
Discuss your current training and how different types of running can fit together more effectively.
Race Preparation
Practical support with pacing, preparation and how to approach an upcoming running event.
Running Drills
Relevant drills and coaching exercises can be used to develop particular aspects of your running.
Individual Feedback
Get an experienced eye on your running with practical feedback you can apply after the session.
How It Works
A Practical Coaching Session
We start with what you want help with and build the session around your running, goals and experience.
Discuss
We talk through your current running, training background, goals and what you would most like to work on.
Observe
I observe your running and look at the areas relevant to the aims of your session.
Coach
We work practically using coaching cues, feedback, pacing strategies or drills where useful.
Take It Forward
You leave with clear advice, practical ideas and areas to work on so the session carries into your future running and training.
Face-to-Face Coaching
Practical Coaching, in Person
One-to-one coaching gives me the opportunity to see your running first-hand, listen to what you're experiencing and provide feedback there and then.
Rather than working from a fixed template, we can try different approaches during the session, see how you respond and focus our time on what is most useful to you as an individual runner.
From a Recent Coaching Session
Real Session. Measurable Change.
Sometimes the value of one-to-one coaching is easier to understand when you see what can actually happen during a session.
The Aim Wasn't Simply to Run Faster
A recent one-to-one session focused on running efficiency and helping the runner better understand how they moved. We established a baseline before making a number of individual observations and coaching adjustments.
The running set was then repeated. The second set was completed 41.9 seconds quicker overall, while the runner reported a very similar level of effort.
We also discussed training structure, footwear and practical recommendations they could take into their future training.
This is an example from an individual coaching session. Responses and outcomes will naturally vary between runners.
Is It Right for You?
You Don't Need to Be an Elite Runner
One-to-one coaching can be useful whether you're relatively new to running, preparing for an event, trying to improve your performance or simply want some individual guidance.
The starting point is your running now, your goals and what you would like to improve.
Use Your Session as a Runner's MOT
You don't need to arrive with one particular area of your running that you want to change. If you're not sure what would be most useful, your one-to-one session can be used as a broader Runner's MOT.
We can look at your current running, discuss your training and goals, and explore areas such as technique, pacing, training structure and race preparation where relevant.
The aim is to give you an experienced outside perspective on your running and identify practical areas that could be useful to take forward.
