Coaching Philosophy

Great coaching starts with great philosophy!

My coaching philosophy emphasises a holistic, athlete centred approach that priorities individual needs and capabilities. This approach is standard with all of my coaching packages. From the very start we set out and establish SMART goals—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. The objectives here is to empower athletes to track their progress while enhancing motivation. By tailoring these goals to each runner’s unique circumstances, it ensures a personalised plan that fosters commitment and drives performance improvements.

Running form and pace!

An essential principle of my approach is the importance of training intelligently. This means not only maintaining the right pace but also prioritising proper technique throughout workouts. Good biomechanics help minimise injury risk and improve movement efficiency. I strongly recommend that all runners include strength training and mobility work in their training as these components are crucial for developing resilience to injuries and boosting overall performance. By fostering both strength and flexibility in conjunction with endurance training, we can develop a well-rounded athlete despite previous ability who are equipped to reach their fitness goals.

Keep on running!

At its core, my coaching philosophy is about creating a supportive atmosphere that empowers runners to achieve their aims. By focusing on the individual, we can tailor training methods to fit the needs while promoting honest discussions about both physical fitness and general wellbeing. As runners begin to understand the importance of a well-rounded preparation that merges goal setting with effective training practices, they not only reach their short-term objectives but also cultivate a lasting enthusiasm to continue running.
